The postnatal period seems all about nurturing the baby...but what about the mother?!

At this time of continuous giving it becomes most important to receive too. So if you came here to treat yourself, know that you have all my support and admiration!

The benefits of postnatal massage are countless, and I could only wish to have made more time for it myself, during my own postnatal period.

And as I know how tricky things get as a new mom and how logistics might hold you back... know that your baby is welcome to come with you too!

I loved every single minute of Shiatsu. This was one of the best experiences I had with a therapy. I tried a few of them like Yumeiho, Access Bars, Massages… but the lightness I felt through my body after this one is incomparable. I had a headache when coming to the sessions, and haven’t had one since then. Chiara is such a calm and peaceful person that even is the therapy is sometime more intense, you still feel a profound sense of relaxation and beatitude.

FAQ

Will I need to undress?

No, Shiatsu is performed fully clothed. No oils or massage creams will be use.

Is Shiatsu done on a bed?

No, although it can be adapted to a massage bed, Shiatsu is traditionally performed lying on a futon low on the ground so that your body can be fully relaxed.

How does it work?

During a Shiatsu treatment I will be applying pressure with my thumbs, palms, forearms to several points across your body, tracing all meridians lines and releasing areas of tension. It is quite literally a head to toe treatment!

Will it hurt?

No, although Shiatsu is deep and might feel slightly uncomfortable at times, I can regulate the pressure based on your sensations in the moment.

How is it different from regular massage?

In Japan Shiatsu is considered "medical treatment". It is deeper than a regular massage, and will leave a longer lasting sense of physical & emotional release.

How many treatments will I need?

Start with one and see how you find it. Like with any other treatments, for Shiatsu to be most effective follow up sessions are always recommended in order to ease out a particular symptom. The number of sessions will vary on a case by case basis.

How often should I do Shiatsu?

It's up to you. While you may wish to get massaged every week for the first 12 weeks after you give birth, you may also only want one massage.

What should I wear?

Loose comfortable clothing, thin enough to feel the pressure through the fabric.
