Postnatal Pilates in Blackheath
/ also available online
Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your little one… and if you are here now, know you have come a long way already!

Pilates has been one of the key elements of my own postnatal recovery, together with breath work, mindfulness practices and pelvic floor exercises, helping me feel in control of my "new body" and able to embrace all the changes.

For this reason, I am passionate about supporting women during the postnatal period, with the very same resources I valued during my own mothering journey.

It would be an honour to be there for you!
Build strength from within and re-connect to your body with our Postnatal Pilates classes.
Recommended from 6 weeks afterbirth up to child's first birthday.
To make it easier for you, your baby is welcome to come along too.
I took postnatal pilates classes with Chiara to improve my posture and strength after months of breastfeeding. After each class I felt stronger and relaxed. My flexibility has improved and, equally important, my mental health.

FAQ
When can I start?
You can usually start postnatal Pilates after your 6-week check-up if you had a vaginal birth, or after 10-12 weeks if you had a C-section. However, you should check with your doctor or midwife before starting if you had complications during pregnancy or childbirth.
What should I expect?
Postnatal Pilates classes are non-competitive and allow you to work at your own pace. You can expect to move at a gentle pace, strengthen your pelvic floor and core, improve your posture and experience a sense of relaxation.
What should I avoid?
Especially in the first period, avoid lifting heavy weights, doing crunches or planks.
What should I do?
Keep exercise to a moderate intensity, prioritise pelvic floor exercises, postural awareness and breath work from the start. I will help you with all of that.
Can I do Pilates if I have a Diastasis Recti?
Yes, and Pilates should help as long as the exercises are done correctly. On your first postnatal class with me I can perform a DR check if you wish.
Can I do Pilates if I have a Prolapse?
Yes, and Pilates can improve the symptoms as long as the exercises are done correctly. If you are seeing a postnatal physio already, we can work together on it.
What should I bring?
If you choose to do your 1:1 class in-person, there's no need to bring anything along. I will provide everything for your session.
If you choose to do your 1:1 class online instead, you will need a mat, a few cushions. Make sure you have a good internet connection.

What should I wear?
Wear loose clothing that's easy to move in. Your comfort is important.
Not ready to book a 121 yet?
I totally get it. Life as a new mom is difficult to plan.
There is a program I have designed for my own postnatal recovery and which you can follow in your own time starting with as little as 3 minutes a day.
