Shiatsu Massage in Blackheath
London SE10 8AF
I believe our body is more than just muscles and bones...and in Shiatsu I have found the holistic approach I was looking for!
With the understanding that everything is connected and that the body is place where we store not only physical but also emotional tension, Seiki Shiatsu address the body as a whole and stimulates the body's natural healing responses.
Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu was once called acupuncture without needles.
Expect it to be just as deep, but performed with caring touch instead.
Free up the body from physical & emotional tension and stimulate its natural healing processes with our Shiatsu Treatments.
Seiki Shiatsu is a head-to-toe "massage" (developed in Japan as medical treatment) which addresses the body as a whole, targeting the source of tension rather than its sole symptoms.
If you are looking for both a knowledgeable and intuitive practitioner of Shiatsu, then Chiara is your person!
In a relaxed home setting, each treatment lasts between 1-1.5 hrs and honestly, I can simply close my eyes and place myself in her gentle but oh ever strong hands.
I have been seeing Chiara for treatment for around 8 months.
Initially attending for a lower backache that disappeared with a week after the 1st session, the overall effect was also a more relaxed and energy filled body as well as a better feeling of wholeness and connectedness.
Chiara’s talent lies in pin pointing your state of being with where you are at physically and emotionally, and then working both systematically and intuitively to open energy centres and remove blocks to promote better health and wellness.
There are also regular online classes, which Chiara hosts, that work on self shiatsu and stretching that help to further expand the effects of the treatment
All in all, absolutely fabulous and wonderful facilities provided by a gifted healer!

FAQ
Will I need to undress?
No, Shiatsu is performed fully clothed. No oils or massage creams will be use.
Is Shiatsu done on a bed?
No, although it can be adapted to a massage bed, Shiatsu is traditionally performed lying on a futon low on the ground so that your body can be fully relaxed.
How does it work?
During a Shiatsu treatment I will be applying pressure with my thumbs, palms, forearms to several points across your body, tracing all meridians lines and releasing areas of tension. It is quite literally a head to toe treatment!
Will it hurt?
No, although Shiatsu is deep and might feel slightly uncomfortable at times, I can regulate the pressure based on your sensations in the moment.
How is it different from regular massage?
In Japan Shiatsu is considered "medical treatment". It is deeper than a regular massage, and will leave a longer lasting sense of physical & emotional release.
How many treatments will I need?
Start with one and see how you find it. Like with any other treatments, for Shiatsu to be most effective follow up sessions are always recommended in order to ease out a particular symptom. The number of sessions will vary on a case by case basis.
How often should I do Shiatsu?
Depending on your current situation frequency might vary. The general recommendation is to start with some regular sessions (weekly or bi-weekly) and decrease the frequency as symptoms ease out (monthly and so on).
If symptom-free you might like to enjoy a treatment as often as you wish!
What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing, thin enough to feel the pressure through the fabric.
